FairCom RTG BTRV Quick Start

This section is designed to get you up and running in a hurry. These steps establish FairCom RTG to handle the BTRV calls made by your application. After completing these steps, your applications will have the benefits of performance and stability provided by FairCom RTG:

1.

Set Up FairCom RTG BTRV

The first step is to install FairCom RTG BTRV.

2.

Set Up FairCom RTG Server

Next, install the FairCom RTG server.

3.

Configure FairCom RTG

FairCom RTG provides a powerful configuration file (ctree.conf), which allows you to adjust parameters such as which files will be handled by FairCom RTG. A graphical Configuration Tool simplifies the process.

4.

Relink Your Application

You will need to relink your application to use the FairCom RTG libraries so I/O calls will be redirected to FairCom RTG. You will also need to set an environment variable and make sure the library is in the path.

5.

Convert Your Data

The most important step is to convert your data so it can be used by FairCom RTG.

6.

Sqlize Your Data (optional)

This final step is optional. It is only necessary if you want to provide SQL access to your data.

Now You Can Configure While You Migrate

Want to Get Up and Running Even Faster? Configure while you migrate!

If you migrate your data using the RTG Migrate graphical tool, you can create a basic configuration file in the final step of the wizard, as described in RTG Migrate.

The RTG Migrate tool can create a simple configuration file from the information you enter when you migrate your data. If your system has additional considerations that dictate a more complex configuration file (such as files that need to be treated specially, multiple clients, servers, etc.), the chapter titled Configure FairCom RTG explains how to edit the configuration file to make adjustments.

If you create a configuration file when you migrate your data, you can skip the Basic Configuration wizard and edit the resulting file as described in Editing a Configuration File.

To take advantage of these streamlined procedures, follow the steps in this order:

  1. Set Up FairCom RTG BTRV
  2. Set Up FairCom RTG Server
  3. Skip to Convert Your Data
  4. If necessary, finish configuration by Editing a Configuration File
  5. Relink Your Application
  6. Sqlize Your Data (optional)
