Client applications using parameter files to define file definitions must either specify a proper path, from the FairCom Server perspective, to the location of the parameter file or the parameter file must be located in the FairCom Server directory.
Parameter files not containing the optional r-tree parameters must be modified. The parameter file data description record contains positions for r-tree’s symbolic first and last field name and the index description record contains a position for the symbolic index name. Since the FairCom Server has RTREE defined, these values must be specified. If r-tree will not be used with the parameter file, dummy values can be used as placeholders. For example, the sample parameter file ctmark.p uses the letter ‘d’ as a provisional placeholder for the three r-tree symbolic values.
