There is a known issue with the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system that may impact your observed locking behavior. This behavior affects the c-tree FPUTFGET model regardless of HUGE file usage. Microsoft Knowledgebase entry 935366 described a hotfix that was available when Vista was supported. This hotfix may not be generally available.
